AI-Assisted Newsletter

 For our group AI-assisted newsletter, Kelli created a prompt for Chat-GPT since she was not able to get an appropriate response using Canva AI. The prompt Kelli used was: "create a newsletter for an elementary school library, make it fun and upbeat, add upcoming events and contact information, make it for the fall season". Chat GPT was able to provide ample information including thematic lessons, events, activities, and reminders for families and students. After approving the information provided, Chat-GPT then asked what format she would like it in, a tri-fold, flyer, or email, and then further altered the information to fit tri-fold sections. Once the content was laid out, Kelli was able to ask Chat-GPT to create a PDF of the information. Unfortunately Chat-GPT will limit some of the access depending on how much you use it during a single day. Kelli went ahead and used Canva and input the information from Chat-GPT into a template from Canva. Here is the link to the newsletter Kelli created.

The newsletter content was very creative but straightforward. It wasn't very wordy and instead used very fun bullet points and included some fun emojis. The newsletter that Kelli made was very fun and would easily catch the attention of students and families. Since we are in the digital age, many families are viewing newsletters on social media websites or in emails. This newsletter is a single page and could be easily viewed on any social media platform. 

I decided to try to utilize the Canva AI to create a newsletter using the following prompt: "create a newsletter for an elementary campus to use during read across america week

include the following details:

library days kindergarten and first grade on monday, second and third grade on wednesday, fourth and fifth grade on friday

can you also add information about dress up days to celebrate each day from this flyer 

each days dress up theme should be a separate section

can you also include the librarian's contact information

CanvaAI is a bit harder to work with than Chat GPT is. While it did provide information I asked for, it didn't provide it in a fun and easy to read way like Chat GPT did. I also did not get to specify what kind of template I wanted since all documents get the same template. The pictures and the color scheme that was chosen was very drab as well and not eye catching. Ultimately, Chat-GPT is easier to use and produces better content results. Understanding how to use genAI is what makes AI helpful. I feel like being able to use AI to reorganize your thoughts into more bite-sized pieces for families to consume is very helpful! I would not personally use CanvaAI since I like to create newsletters and flyers myself.

    I saw your flyer from Chat GPT on a group mate's blog and agree with you that the one Canva AI created here is less eye catching and engaging.
